Hydrogen is very energy dense, which means a lot of energy can be stored in a small volume. It would work best for heavy vehicles (truck, ship, airplane). Green hydrogen can be used to store electricity at our homes. Hydrogen storage tanks take 50% less space compared to Lithium batteries.Hydrogen’s energy to weight ratio is 10x greater than lithium batteries.
One of the major challenges in using hydrogen is its storage. Hydrogen requires to be stored in high pressure tanks or liquefaction and storage in cryogenic tanks, which is very expensive. The cheapest way to store it is underground salt caverns, which are safe and reliable; no high pressurization and can be stored for longer periods of time.
